Peel eggs in 5 seconds: The secret is the glass

At no other time of the year are so many eggs boiled as at Easter. Time to make the annoying job of peeling eggs a little easier with a few tips and tricks. Whether soft or hard-boiled – we’ll show you how to conjure up perfect eggs and get the shell off in no time at all. Save time, nerves and discover clever tips that no kitchen should be without. Breakfast has never been so easy! Try it now and be amazed!

Peel eggs by shaking

With this method, hard-boiled and quenched eggs peel almost by themselves: Place the egg in a jar and add enough water to almost completely cover the egg. Hold the jar firmly with one hand, close the opening with the other, flat hand and shake vigorously. After a few seconds, you can remove the egg from the jar. The shell can then be easily removed from the egg.

Extra tipThe previous trick also works with several eggs at the same time by placing the eggs on top of each other in a drinking bottle with an appropriately wide opening and, as before, adding a little water and shaking.

Peeling eggs by rolling

You can also use this trick to peel hard-boiled and quenched eggs quickly and easily: Crack the egg lengthwise on the table so that the shell breaks at the appropriate point. Then roll the egg back and forth with light pressure so that the shell splits all around. You will now be able to peel the shell off without any difficulty.

Peeling eggs under water

This trick is self-explanatory: you take the freshly boiled egg and peel it in cold water in a bowl or under the running tap. The shell comes off much more easily once the egg has been quenched.

Prepare before cooking

To remove the shell without too much effort, you can also prick a small hole in the bottom, wide side of the egg with a thumbtack before cooking. Most of the air collects there and the hole reduces the pressure. In addition, pierced eggs do not burst during cooking.

Determine freshness

A classic household trick to determine how fresh an egg is is to place the egg in a glass or bowl of water. If it floats to the top, it is far less fresh than if it sinks to the bottom of the container.

Perfectly shaped fried eggs

You will get a perfectly shaped fried egg if you fry the egg in an onion or bell pepper ring. You can then eat the vegetables as a side dish.

Preparing eggs in the oven

The oven is a great alternative to the saucepan, especially if you want to cook lots of eggs at the same time. Place the eggs in a 12-cup muffin tray so that they don’t roll around and can be easily put in and taken out of the oven.
To obtain soft eggs, cook them in the oven at 200 °C for 10 minutes. For hard eggs, put them in the oven at the same temperature for 14 minutes.

So next time you’re preparing eggs, why not try one of these tricks?
